What NYC’s Lawsuit Against CarGurus Means for Car Dealers

New York City has sued CarGurus based in large part on dealer vehicle listings on its site. On October 15, 2026, the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) announced a suit in New York State Supreme Court alleging that CarGurus labeled dealer prices “Great Deals” when mandatory fees, down payments and trade-in conditions were buried in the fine print (complaint). These are allegations; CarGurus has not yet answered, and no court has ruled.
